
Dempsey Bob
- Dempsey Bob, born in 1948, is a woodcarver and sculptor on the Northwest Coast of British Columbia, Canada. Dempsey Bob belongs to the Wolf clan and, a descendant of the Tahltan and Tlingit First Nations. His works are collected by many important museums and art galleries, such as the Canadian Museum of History, the Royal British Columbia Museum, the University of British Columbia‘s Museum of Anthropology, etc. In addition to these, Dempsey Bobâs major commissions include the Vancouver Airport Authority, the Museum of Northern BC, Prince Rupert; and the Owase Community Cultural Centre, Japan. Many different materials are used in Dempsey Bob’s artwork, but the main medium is still wood. Most of the themes of his works include inspiration from the traditional stories of the aborigines of the West Coast, and one of her favorite themes is frogs.
