Megan Halhed, goaltender for uOttawa women’s hockey team discovered her love of the sport at age 10 when her mother brought her to the arena to learn how to skate. She immediately fell in love with hockey, and played on a boys’ team until 2011. She said her family has always encouraged her.
PBO, a watchdog still leashed
The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) provides economic and budgetary analysis to Canada’s Parliament. On Nov. 10, it released its Economic and Fiscal Outlook and the forecast isn’t good: the first blow to the new Liberal government. It is uncertain whether such reports will again strain relations between the PBO and the government.

Canadian Scott Bedard should have been in the 10th arrondissement of Paris on Friday night when the city was attacked and 129 people died. The 28-year-old should have been right next to Café Bonne Bière, where five people were killed. But he got a call from a friend that may have saved his life.

Let’s get physically active
On Fridays, Jasmine van Schouwen ends her week as a law student at 4 p.m. and fights through traffic to get to Nepean for a 5:45 p.m. dance rehearsal. She’ll have another rehearsal the next day for three hours in the afternoon between doing homework. Since September, she’s been rehearsing for a show in early December.
