Growing up on a quiet farm in rural Alberta, Karen yearned to explore new places. When daydreams weren’t enough, she quit university to travel through Europe and Africa with only a backpack and a journal. In 2010, she completed a Spanish degree and travelled through Central America. Her most recent and challenging journey took her to Vietnam as an English teacher. Writing for Let’s Go.com, her personal blog and other e-zines has made her keen for new challenges and professional growth. She is excited to attend Carleton and expand her writing skills, scope and experience.
