Reloading is a project created by Carleton University’s Master of Journalism class of 2024. The class will produce articles over three weeks on this website. The 13 journalists who make up the class contribute to fulfill all editorial, production and reporting roles.

Zuhra is a passionate storyteller who believes everyone has a story to tell. During the pandemic, she noticed that many felt voiceless, and in 2022, Zuhra began her graduate studies in journalism. Her new normal involves reporting on stories that matter and seeing the world through a new lens.
Simon is an Ottawa-based journalist passionate about educating on Canadian parliamentary affairs. In 2021, he discovered a love for writing and took on a new challenge in 2022, beginning graduate studies in journalism. Simon's new normal involves late nights making TikToks about Parliament Hill.
Liam is a freelance journalist based in Ottawa, passionate about covering youth culture and global affairs. In 2021, Liam realized his love for travel and his dream of studying journalism, beginning graduate studies at Carleton. Liam’s new normal involves making horrible music and enjoying good food.
Gwyneth is an Ottawa-based journalist who is interested in long-form journalism and photography. She has lived in Ottawa for four and a half years and enjoys exploring the city's political as well as its arts and culture scene. Gwyneth's new normal includes binge-watching TV shows, drinking lots of tea and singing along to Taylor Swift.
Chris is a first-year Master of Journalism student originally from Calgary. He is interested in climate politics and local Ottawa journalism. His life changed drastically during the pandemic, with culture changes at the tech company he worked at leading him to transition into journalism.
Nathan is a journalism student hailing from Edmonton. When not obsessing over Alberta politics, he likes paying attention to local government and how it impacts people on a daily basis. His new normal involves going to the movie theatre less often and keeping a close eye on municipal issues as Ottawa welcomes its new council.
Yumna Iftikhar is a Pakistani-Canadian journalist interested in international affairs and disability studies. In 2020, Yumna decided to write for news and watch horror films instead of reading news and writing for horror films. Yumna’s new normal includes learning languages and attempting to cook traditional dishes from as many countries as she can.
Rey hails from Brockville, Ont. and enjoys writing about politics and arts & culture. During the pandemic, she taught herself how to knit and used songwriting to cope with the lonely lockdowns. Rey's new normal includes spending time with Wilbur, her six-stringed best friend, and watching an unhealthy amount of political commentary.
Taylor was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ont. She has a passion for writing about politics and following the world of figure skating. During the pandemic, she took up running and listening to podcasts on Glee - the greatest show ever. Taylor’s new normal includes mindlessly scrolling TikTok and ensuring she never leaves the house without a mask.
Polina is a freelance journalist from Ukraine interested in covering social issues. During the pandemic, Polina took a month to go biking in the forest with her sister, found a new job and had her first internship in journalism. Moving to Canada, where she studies journalism, has created Polina’s new normal.
