Bio

My name is Eugene Kwibuka. I am a freelance journalist from Rwanda and a candidate for graduation from the master of journalism degree program at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and I hold a bachelor of journalism degree from the National University of Rwanda in Butare, Rwanda.

I have been practicing and studying journalism since 2005. My first journalism assignments were with Radio Salus and the New Times newspaper in Rwanda. As part of my freelance journalism work, I have published my articles with Rwanda News Agency, Panos London, the Ottawa Citizen, the Globe and Mail and the Montreal Gazette. My stories have also appeared in the Independent magazine based in Kampala, Uganda, the UK-based Global: the international briefing magazine, and Metrolandmedia’s community newspaper Ottawa This Week.

My research interests include international affairs, immigration, social diversity in the news, and journalism practices around the world.
