So we’re back…but we took a winding road to get here!
The surge of the pandemic in December meant we had to switch back to working remotely from all our various homes as our new team prepped for this season.
This meant we weren’t able to get into our studios at Carleton University’s Richcraft Hall to produce our first live programs on schedule.
Instead, we switched back to what we did throughout the 2020-21 seasons, assembling our stories into 20-minute-long podcasts.
These went so well, we pulled them together into a single one-hour show.
This special was broadcast on CKCU-FM in our regular timeslot on Feb. 9 — which also happened to be the same day we were allowed back into our newsroom and studios, at long last.
That meant that as this recorded show was going to air, we were busy practising how to put on a live show by doing a full 90-minute one as though we were doing the real thing…but with it just being “broadcast” to us in the newsroom.
That went well, with us scaring ourselves just enough so we knew what to do better the next time.
And then we walked in on Feb. 16 and did the real thing…for real…going live to air to the whole National Capital Region…
More on that in a post of its own, but in the meantime, here’s that hour-long compilation of our podcasts — enjoy!
