Midweek’s back after a week’s break, but we haven’t been slacking off: We look at support for the Wet’suwet’en blockades, and also some of the disruptions they’re causing; we examine concussions, human trafficking, and struggles to unionize; and we hear about threatened local traditions and others that are going strong.
This Midweek opens with the struggles of the Wet’suwet’en cause and mourning for journalist Christie Blatchford and students lost to suicide at Ottawa U, but before we’re done we’ve also met women accomplishing much in science, LGBTQ folks reclaiming hockey as a passion, and artists expressing themselves through nature photography, drag acts, and using ivy to expose colonialism. That and much more!
Midwinter, but Midweek is out and about: we head off to the farmers’ market, stop at a diner, attend a chef competition and a blues concert, ride transit with some disgruntled users, and take an indepth look at what people with disabilities want others to know about what it’s like being stared at. All that and much more!
