With hosts Matt Slevin and Mingwei Qin, we’re off on another edition of Midweek.

Hosts Matt Slevin and Mingwei Qin sit patiently in front of their microphones in the broadcasting booth.

Similar to last week’s show, we had to get past a few minor obstacles before our 12:06 p.m. air time, including scripts that were printed late. The Midweek team conferred with one another and came up with some key tips and tricks on how to better prepare for the show in the coming weeks. Despite the ups and downs, the show itself was a tremendous a success, especially when it came to the calibre of each story’s writing and sound!

The Midweek newsroom is always bustling with laughter amidst the clacking of keyboards.

The live show kicked-off with what some would say is a worrisome story about how October 3, 2023, was Ottawa’s hottest autumn day on record.

The lineup also featured a story about how Manitoba recently elected Premier Wab Kinew from the Onigaming First Nation. His cabinet promises to search the Prairie Green Landfill for the remains of Indigenous women.

There were also stories about a local company hosting a Joke-a-Oke: a mix between comedy and karaoke; and how the annual Inside Out film festival is partnering with 2SLGBTQ+ creators to run its weekend long festival.

A glimpse into the production of Midweek while live on-air.

A heck of a lively show, to say the least.

See you next week!
