In a diverse city like Ottawa, you’re bound to find people in the most unlikely places. But you don’t normally expect to have your morning coffee roasted by a man whose career has spanned three continents.

Meet Dr. Hans Langenbahn, a social anthropologist who learned the secrets behind coffee roasting while traveling through Ethiopia. The allure of remote places has drawn Hans to discover his true passion, the fine art of coffee roasting. Growing up in a remote area in Germany, Hans fell in love with the open space and the natural beauty.

From Guatemala, to Yemen, to Brazil and beyond Hans has traveled the globe in search of the perfect cup of coffee. Hans hopes to use his roasting skills at Happy Goat Coffee Company to shake up the nation’s capital by changing the roasting style from dark to lighter roasted coffee.
