Tan Ngo, a local Buddhist monk, is using his Buddhist meditation teachings to bring peace to both the Vietnamese Buddhist community and himself after fleeing a life of violence in Vietnam.
Forever learning, Ngo is now pursuing a PhD in Political Science. He studies the South China Sea, the very body of water he traversed by boat to escape an internment camp.

Tan Ngo became a monk at age eight, his mother’s attempt to protect him from war. He eventually fought in that war, then fought to escape it. Photo Courtesy of Tan Ngo.
Ngo’s philosophy is that Nirvana is now, that peace is attainable no matter the challenge. He ends every email with “Stop searching… miracles are all around you.”
