Poetic Origins Jamaal Jackson Rogers is a local spoken word artist and arts educator. A poetry unit in his English as Second Language class led him into writing his own poem. Now, he earned the title of Ottawa’s Poet Laureate and co-owns an arts venue which prioritizes the voices of marginalized communities.

Inked: reshaping the stigma of hand-poked tattoos Katie Nelson is a self-taught tattoo artist who operates out of her Chinatown apartment. Through her art she is constantly battling against the stigma that hand done tattoos are unsafe or poorly done.
